6 chicken thighs
3 tablespoons olive oil
1/5 cup pomegranate molasses
1/5 cup vinegar
1/5 cup honey
1 cup fresh orange juice
1 teaspoon salt
A pinch of black pepper
1 teaspoon chili or paprika
1 teaspoon coriander
It is very simple to cook this meal. Only get the ingredients ready in front of you and start following the steps.
First, heat a large pan and add olive oil, then sprinkle a pinch of salt on the chicken thighs and put them in the pan. Cover the pan and let them in until golden in color on both sides. When they are ready, take them out of the pan and put them in a bowl and set aside.
The second step is to cut each orange into 8 pieces and add them to the same pan you cooked the thighs in. Be careful of hot oil splash at this stage. Keep turning the orange pieces in oil very carefully until they get the golden color on both sides.
Serve in the same pan or in a serving dish. Garnish with pomegranate seeds on top if you like and enjoy this innovative family meal with the wonderful sauce.
The traditional technique of cooking orange chicken
Orange chicken is not a new recipe and orange sauce is a Chinese traditional sauce that can go with many other dishes. Let’s start with this recipe that follows the traditional method.
6 chicken thighs or breast cutlets
300 ml fresh orange juice
1 cup water
Salt: to taste
Black pepper: to taste
1 chopped clove of garlic
1 teaspoon dried parsley
Olive oil for frying
Soy sauce (optional)
First, start with coating the chicken breasts or thighs with fine breadcrumbs after seasoning them very well with black pepper and salt on both sides. Then fry them in hot olive oil put in a skillet over medium-high heat. When they are golden on both sides, move them to a plate and set aside to rest. They shouldn’t be golden brown; slightly golden is perfect.
Second, in the same skillet containing olive oil, add chopped garlic and cook until brown in color, then add orange juice, water and dried parsley and stir well. Now put the chicken pieces you prepared earlier in the sauce for about 10 minutes. You will notice that the sauce thickens. They are ready to serve. Transfer the chicken to a nice serving plate and then pour the orange sauce over them and enjoy your meal.
